20th - 29th July 2012
Heres a look at what we got up to
in
2011
The Heaton Arts Festival is a volunteer led project which aims to promote community involvement, showcase local talent and inject some fun into the area.
The festival is held in association with the Charles Street Community Association (reg. Charity 1010376).
The event is organised and ran by volunteers, and we rely entirely on kind donations of time and money. We are all inclusive and welcome participation from all areas of the creative arts.
Following the success of last year’s inaugural festival this year’s festival is set to be even bigger and better, and will run from 20th July to 29th July 2012.
We have had an overwhelming response from local businesses and we have already secured 22 venues across Heaton. These businesses will be transformed into galleries, workspaces and performance areas across the week displaying works of art, staging workshops, holding performances etc.
Throughout the week we have planned a diverse and interesting calendar of events offering everyone in the community the opportunity to participate. There will be a number of workshops held including furniture making, stencilling, dance and poetry to name a few, all lead by local artists keen to share their skills with the community. We have been blown away by the talent of the area and have an amazing collection of painters, sculptors, dancers, singers, musicians, photographers, poets and comedians to name a few of the talents, and they’re all giving their time freely and with huge passion and dedication. Some of the major events include an alternative Miss Heaton pageant, the Heaton Vintage Trail, and The Great Heaton Bake off. In the evenings we will be offering live music, poetry, burlesque and comedy.
Great creative things for all to enjoy
